A finished fishing rod combines a blank with many separate components, and no single factory makes all of them. Fantan Fishing manufactures carbon fiber guides, titanium guides and a range of carbon fiber reel seats in-house. Everything else on a rod, including reels, handle materials, premium guide brands and metal trim parts, is sourced to your brand or specification and integrated into the build. This page states clearly which is which and explains how specified components are handled from quotation to final inspection.
Self-made components
| Component | In-house range | Page |
| Carbon fiber guides | YT, KW and KR frame series with ZrO2 or Si3N4 rings, plus carbon tip-tops | Carbon Fiber Fishing Rod Guides |
| Titanium guides | T and TRA series, plus titanium tip-tops | Titanium Fishing Rod Guides |
| Carbon fiber reel seats | Solid carbon fiber models YT-01 to YT-06 and braided carbon models YT-07-1K and YT-08-1K | Carbon Fiber Fishing Rod Reel Seats |
These components are specified by our own model numbers, sampled from our production and supplied either on complete OEM rods or in bulk for your own assembly. An overview of the guide range is on Fishing Rod Guides. Fishing rod blanks are likewise supplied for complete rods or in bulk.
Sourced components
Any part we do not manufacture is sourced. We do not present sourced parts as our own, and the bill of materials for every project marks each line as self-made or sourced, with the brand and supplier named.
- Reels. Where a rod is sold as a combo, the reel is purchased to your specified brand and model or, if you prefer, supplied by you to our factory for packing. We do not manufacture reels.
- Premium guide brands. If your specification calls for a named third-party guide brand, we source that exact brand and part number, record it on the bill of materials and fit it in place of our own guides. We do not substitute look-alike parts.
- Cork and EVA handles. Cork grades, EVA densities and shaped grips are sourced to your specification or matched to a reference sample you approve.
- Aluminum and other metal parts. Winding checks, butt caps, trim rings, hook keepers and metal reel seat components are sourced to drawing or to a specified brand.
- Other reel seats and handle assemblies. Graphite, aluminum or branded reel seats outside our carbon range, and complete grip and reel-seat assemblies, are sourced.
How a specified component is handled
- Specification. You name the brand, model, size, color and quantity, or send a sample. We confirm whether the part is current and available.
- Quotation. Sourced parts are priced and scheduled separately within the rod quotation, because their minimums and lead times follow the supplier rather than our factory.
- Sample fit. The part is fitted on the development sample so that compatibility with the blank, handle and reel seat is checked before approval. See Sample Development.
- Incoming inspection. Delivered parts are checked against the bill of materials for brand, model, quantity and visible defects before they reach assembly. The scope is described on Quality & Inspection.
- Integration and traceability. Parts are assembled according to the approved drawing, and the bill of materials and inspection record identify what went onto the rod.
Buyer-supplied components
Some brands prefer to buy certain components themselves and ship them to us. This is possible, and the same incoming inspection and bill-of-materials rules apply. Responsibility for quantity, lead time and defects in supplied parts is set out in writing before production.
Choosing between in-house and sourced
In-house guides and reel seats are planned together with rod production, which usually simplifies scheduling and sampling. Sourced components give you access to brands your customers recognize. Many programs combine the two, for example our titanium guides with a branded reel seat or a specified cork handle. The choice is made at component selection, step three of the OEM Production Process, and reflected in the quotation.
