This page describes the manufacturing scope behind Fantan Fishing’s OEM rods and components as a set of processes rather than a list of numbers. We would rather show buyers how a rod or a guide is made, and provide process photos, inspection records and a visit where practical, than publish capacity figures that cannot be checked. Each section below sets out what the process covers and what you can ask to see.
Blank rolling and finishing
Blank production covers pattern cutting, rolling on mandrels, wrapping, curing, mandrel removal, grinding and finishing. Section lengths, joint fit and straightness are checked before blanks move to painting or assembly. Finished blanks are either built into our complete rods or supplied in bulk through Fishing Rod Blanks.
What you can request: the process step list for the blank in your project, photos of rolling and finishing stages, and the dimensional check record for sample and bulk blanks.
Guide manufacturing
Carbon fiber guides in the YT, KW and KR frame series and titanium guides in the T and TRA series are manufactured in-house, together with the matching tip-tops. The process covers frame production, ring fitting (ZrO2 or Si3N4 rings in the carbon series), finishing and inspection. Guide sets are supplied on our OEM rods or in bulk; see Fishing Rod Guides, Carbon Fiber Guides and Titanium Guides.
What you can request: the current guide catalog with dimensions, sample guides for fitting on your blank, process photos, and the inspection points applied to your order.
Reel seat production
Our carbon fiber reel seat range covers solid carbon fiber models YT-01 to YT-06 and braided carbon models YT-07-1K and YT-08-1K. Production covers the carbon body, assembly of the hood and locking components, finishing and fit checks against the specified blank diameter. Reel seats outside this range, including graphite, aluminum and branded seats, are sourced. See Carbon Fiber Reel Seats.
What you can request: reel seat samples by model, dimensional data for the model you select, and photos of the production and finishing steps.
Rod assembly
Assembly brings blank, guides, reel seat, handle and trim together to the approved drawing: handle and reel seat fitting, guide spacing and alignment, wrapping, finish coating, curing, logo application and final finishing. Sourced components, including reels, cork and EVA handle materials, premium guide brands and aluminum trim, enter this stage after incoming inspection. The boundary between self-made and sourced parts is set out under Component Sourcing & Integration.
What you can request: photos of your sample at each assembly stage, the guide spacing chart from the drawing, and the assembly inspection record for bulk.
Inspection stations
Inspection is built into the process rather than left to the end. The stations are incoming component inspection, dimensional inspection, cosmetic inspection, comparison against the golden sample, assembly inspection, packaging inspection and final inspection. Test names, sampling levels and tolerances are agreed per project rather than published generically; the scope is described on Quality & Inspection.
What you can request: the inspection plan for your order, the list of inspection equipment used for your checks, and inspection records from sample and bulk.
Self-made versus sourced
| Self-made | Carbon fiber guides (YT, KW, KR), titanium guides (T, TRA), carbon fiber reel seats (YT-01 to YT-08-1K), rod blank rolling and finishing, complete rod assembly |
| Sourced to your specification | Reels, premium third-party guide brands, cork and EVA handle materials, aluminum and other metal parts, reel seats outside the carbon range, printed packaging |
Seeing the factory for yourself
We would rather you judged capability from evidence than from adjectives. Buyers evaluating a program can request a process list for their specific product, photos of the relevant workshop areas, details of the inspection equipment used for their checks, and production or quality records from the sample and bulk stages. Factory visits and third-party audits are arranged on request. To ask for any of these, or to start a project from OEM Fishing Rods, use Request a Quote. The production sequence is described in the OEM Production Process, and the sample method in Sample Development.
